How a Simple Prayer Led to a Day With Major Accomplishments!

A Lasting Message from My Pastor

A couple of years ago, my pastor said something that still resonates with me today: “You don’t need to be baptized with the Holy Ghost to walk with the Holy Spirit.” He explained that simply inviting the Holy Spirit into your life and heart is enough to begin a relationship. This thought has stayed with me, especially now as I am on a personal journey to truly discover who the Holy Spirit is to me and to nurture a deeper, more personal relationship with Him.

A Different Kind of Morning

Typically, my mornings start with a mental to-do list that only seems to grow as the day progresses. I’ll admit, I often manage to cross off just one or two items, leaving the rest to spill over into the next day or even the next week. But today was different. I intentionally invited the Holy Spirit to lead and plan my day as He saw fit. I made a conscious promise to listen to Him rather than argue with or ignore Him, as I often do.

The Holy Spirit at Work

As I sat on my bed at the end of the day, I was in awe. Without any formal plans or a list to check off, I managed to accomplish four important tasks that had been weighing on me for months. It was as if something greater than myself had taken the reins.

My experience reminded me of the stories my patients with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) often share with me. When I start them on medication, they frequently describe a feeling of newfound energy, focus, and motivation. They say it’s like a light switch flips on. On this day, I felt that same burst of productivity and focus, but without any medication—just the gentle guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” On this day, I did just that. I asked for the Holy Spirit’s presence, and He answered.

One of the most remarkable parts of my day was dealing with two customer service calls. Typically, these calls get me frustrated, with my heart racing and my voice raising. But on this day, I was calm, collected, and unfazed, even when the customer service representative was saying things that would normally push my buttons. The Holy Spirit kept me grounded.

The Takeaway

The takeaway here is simple: sometimes, the most important things in life happen when we surrender control. When we let go and let God, He steps in to handle what we can’t. If you need energy, ask for it. If you need kindness, request it. If you need compassion, seek it. Whatever you’re struggling with, give it to God, and trust that He will take care of it.

A Challenge for You

I challenge you today: let go of one of your worries. Hand it over to God and stop fretting about it. Trust in Him and watch as the impossible becomes possible.
